August Klintberg leads a virtual discussion studying the phenomenon of artist-run restaurants—the subject of his Ph.D. thesis and a remaining area of ongoing research in his practice. Klintberg’s selected case studies use food and hospitality as leverage points to highlight commodity exchange, to enact activism, to question or claim forms of identity, and to spark conviviality.

A Virtual Meeting was part of Sahar Te’s Incubator exhibition project. Delayed due to the pandemic, Te’s programming returned to the VAC in August, 2022 with a series of in-person workshops related to the fantastic potential of mushrooms.Te’s installation was part of an exhibition series, wholly titled Public Space, at the VAC in 2021. Founded on public and cultural collaboration, the series invited artists to lead participatory exhibition installations supported by community-focused programmes. The artists involved in the Public Space exhibition were invited to create participatory works to engage in collective group happenings related to their work and research. Sahar Te's Incubator invited artists to engage with the public through participatory performance and workshop series with Emily DiCarlo, Miles Rufelds’ short film screenings at the VAC and this virtual discussion with August Klintberg.
